Committed To Restoring the Grandeur of Børsen
When Børsen, a marvel of the Danish Renaissance, sadly caught fire on 16 April 2024, many people showed up to help rescue historic paintings from the iconic building. These people relentlessly gave their all to ensure many items that hold historical significance, including P.S. Krøyer’s 1895 paintings, are rescued.
Concerned about the risk of losing the rich cultural heritage established by Børsen for centuries, these concerned parties went ahead to create a mission to restore the iconic building’s lost glory. The group comprising corporate executives, historians, business persons, and Scandinavians, collectively formed the Friends of Børsen.
Our Mission
We are at a critical moment where we stand the risk of losing what the marvel of Danish Renaissance architecture gave us. Friends of Børsen are not ready to see that happen. That is why we are on a mission to meticulously restore every minute detail of this historic building. With your support, we will be doing this while making sure the original design remains unaltered.
However, this restoration project will see to it that Børsen is much safer from any possible future tragedies. We will do this by implementing modern safety technologies and standards. By taking part in this project, you will not only be restoring Børsen, but you will be helping revive the shared cultural heritage of Scandinavia.
Our Vision
Friends of Børsen foresees Børsen building standing tall once again, continuing to be a beacon of history. We see a future where the iconic building will fulfil not just Copenhagen’s community events, but educational programs and exhibitions for the entire world.
We strongly believe that bringing back the lost glory of Børsen will honour our past and also invigorate us for a brighter future.
How Can You Help
Børsen is a grandeur built from 1619 to 1640 during King Christian IV’s reign, which means, a lot of finer design details may have been destroyed by fire. Restoring these details will not be easy and will require a lot of input, including financial, skill, and technological advancements. All these cost a significant fortune that we alone, cannot achieve. That is why we strongly urge you to join us, whether as a corporation, foundation, private investor or citizen.
We welcome contributions, both domestically and internationally, to aid in the restoration of Børsen. It does not matter how you choose to contribute. Friends of Børsen readily welcomes and values your contribution, whether financially, by volunteering, or by spreading the word.
Working together, we can see to it that Børsen rises from the ashes to serve as a symbol of cultural pride and resilience like it once did.
